    Anthony Sammarco will present an illustrated lecture on “The Boston Irish." He will explore the 19th and 20th century people and institutions that were founded by and for the Irish immigrants and their descendants. Some of the prominent ones are Boston College, Carney Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, the House of the Good Shepherd, the House of the Angel Guardian and many churches such as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Immaculate Conception in Boston's South End. Many people think that the Irish immigration of the 1840s changed the face of Boston over the ensuing centuries. Generations of Irish in Boston contributed to the fabric of the city's life in business, government and the church.
    Anthony Mitchell Sammarco is a noted historian and author of over seventy books on the history and development of Boston. He lectures widely on the history and development of is city.   • Barnstable Police K-9 Demonstration

    The Barnstable Police K-9 Unit was established by Chief Albert Hinkley in 1976 and has operated continuously for over 40 years. This makes the Barnstable K-9 Unit one of the oldest in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since its inception, there have been 23 K-9’s handled by 11 K-9 officers or handlers. The breeds of dogs utilized have been German ShepherdRottweilerBelgian MalinoisDutch ShepherdGolden Retriever and Black Labrador Retriever.Currently, there is one K-9 patrol team and new one drug team who graduated from the K-9 Police Academy in 2016. Together our K-9 Teams service over three hundred calls per year in the Town of Barnstable as well as providing mutual aide throughout Barnstable County, (Cape Cod) and as far away as Boston.

    Creative Hands is a contemporary Cape Cod gallery of Fine Crafts and more.  It provides local and visiting patrons of Cape Cod a place to view and/or purchase one-of-a-kind handcrafted artwork for everyday use and enjoyment in a formal gallery setting.  The Gallery features the works of an eclectic cross section of both established and emerging artists: glass blowers, jewelry makers, potters, wood turners, furniture makers, print makers, photographers, painters, sculptural artists and more.  Each piece of artwork is displayed in a manner so as to give it space to be viewed and enjoyed individually.
